Heritage Farm Museum and Village – Huntington, West Virginia

Spend a Day at the Heritage Farm Museum and Village. Huntington, West Virginia offers visitors a number of different things to do, but one of the most popular is to visit the Heritage Farm Museum and Village. Everyone in the family, from the kids to the adults will find something to love there. The museum even offers lodging for families and small groups as well as meeting halls.

Just look at a few of the wonderful things that you and the family can see and do while visiting the Heritage Farm Museum and Village.

At the Museum of Progress, you will see the way life in homes changed from 1850 to 1900 to 1925. You can see progress in the way people went from using water from a well and oil lamps to having electricity and running water. It gives you an appreciation for all of the modern conveniences people of today have.

The Museum of Transportation displays the evolution of personal travel, from covered wagons to the Model-T Ford and beyond. You might be surprised at how quickly people went from utilizing horses to figuring out the horsepower of engines!

At the Country Store Museum, you will be able to see a number of items from the past, as well as learn about how important the general store was to the everyday life of people who lived in the late 1800s.

After taking a tour of all of the wonderful museums on the grounds, you can take a relaxing stroll along the Nature Walk and then visit some of the animals in the Farm Zoo. You can see donkeys, lamas, and a whole lot more. Kids love this area of the site.

Admission to the tours of the Museum of Progress, the Museum of Transportation, and the Country Store Museum is $8 for adults aged 13 – 64, $ for seniors 65 and over, and $6 for children 3 – 12. Children under 2 years of age are free. Tours are available Monday through Saturday from 10AM to 3PM.

Admission to the Farm Zoo and Nature Walk is $5 per person and is available on Saturdays from May through September, although you can also call for reservations.

Directions
From I-64, take Exit 8 (5th Street Exit) of Huntington, WV. Turn onto the I-64 Westbound access road. Travel one block and turn right onto Johnstown Road. Follow Johnstown Road about a mile until you come to a stop sign. At the sign, turn left and go across the bridge onto Harvey Road. Follow it 1.7 miles to the marked entrance to Heritage Farm Museum and Village.
